Obituary

Gerry Gomberg, 85, passed away at her home in Wilmette, IL, after a courageous, decades-long battle with Crohns disease. Gerry was the cherished wife of the late Mannie Kaskel and the late Jack Gomberg, adored mother of Andra Gomberg and Betsy (Steven Lindsey) Gomberg; stepmother of Meryl (William) Konrad, Bruce (Linda) Kaskel, and Jack (Maurine) Kaskel; grandmother of Maya, Ben (Erica), Beth (Michael), Allison, Emily, Benjamin, and Michael; and great-grandmother of Emma, India, Ava, and Amelia. A child of immigrants, Gerry was raised in East St. Louis and graduated from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1950. She valued many wonderful friends with whom she shared the trials and joys of work and life. The family would like to thank the outstanding caregivers who cared for her with compassion and expertise; you have our deep gratitude. Service Friday 11:00 AM at Jewish Reconstructionist Congregation, 303 Dodge Avenue, Evanston. Private Interment. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Crohns & Colitis Foundation of America, PO Box 1245, Albert Lea, Minnesota 56007-9976, ccfa.org.
